Washington Post: An orphanage created to help women and children during the Civil War adjusts once again to a crisis

For some of the organizations holding up the Washington region’s safety net, this time will bring unprecedented challenges. For St. Ann’s, it will mark a new test in a timeline filled with them. To figure out how to move forward, it just has to look back. The organization was founded during a crisis, and it has reinvented itself time and again since. Read more at The Washington Post

  • In 2019, 47 families (including 54 children) found a home at St. Ann's Center.

  • In 2019, 100% of all eligible families transitioned from St. Ann's Center to permanent, safe housing.

  • In 2019, 6 mothers at St. Ann's Center gave birth to healthy babies.

  • In 2019, 81 children were served in our Child Care Center. 22 children were enrolled in the Early Head Start program.

  • In 2019, 95% of St. Ann's mothers were employed within 3 months of entering St. Ann's Center.

  • In 2019, 321 children and adults from the community received diapers, food, clothing, toiletries and toys from St. Ann's Center's Outreach Program.
