Volunteer Spotlight: Tiffany Richardson
Tiffany Richardson has made service to others a lifelong commitment. When she isn’t working full time as a Data Administrator at Holy Cross Hospital, Tiffany spends much of her free time volunteering.
“My mom instilled in me the importance of giving back,” Tiffany explains, “From the age of five or six she started bringing us to Martha’s Table to provide meals for the homeless at Christmas time. She always taught us to be grateful for what we had and to give our time in a way that will benefit others.”
In the evenings, while the young women of St. Ann’s supportive housing programs attend Life Skills and Parenting classes, Tiffany joins St. Ann’s staff in providing care for the residents’ children. “Instead of having the kids sit in front of the television, we bring them to the playroom and plan fun, interactive activities for them,” Tiffany explains, “They really come alive and I enjoy it.”
Tiffany knows that her volunteer time is a big help to St. Ann’s young mothers: “The moms are definitely grateful for the volunteers’ help. They always say ‘thank you very much’ when they drop off and pick up their children.”
Tiffany’s role model is her mother, who passed away in 2007. She honors her mother and the lessons she taught her by giving back, “I feel like the best way to carry on her memory is to give a little bit of myself to others.”
